Addis Ababa City Culture, Arts and Tourism Bureau was established in May 2012 under the name of Culture and Tourism Bureau.

As a result, the culture sector has been separated from the Bureau of Culture and Information and the tourism sector has been separated from the Bureau of Trade and Industry.
Addis Ababa Culture, Arts and Tourism Bureau has been given the following powers and functions in accordance with Proclamation No. 74/2014.
