Honorable Hirut Kassaw (Dr.)

Head of the bureau
Addis Ababa Culture, Arts and Tourism Bureau

Dear our beloved visitors of this website,

I am absolutely delighted to welcome our tourists to the Land of Origins, Ethiopia, and to wondrous spots of culture, arts and tourism in its capital, Addis Ababa, the vibrant hub of Africa for all nations around the world. Addis Ababa is worth visiting for a number of reasons these days. For instance, it is truly a suitable spot in which tourists can peacefully stay or plan to travel to different parts of Ethiopia. The close to zero crime rate of the city, along with the wonderful hospitality of its residents, always creates a completely reliable and peaceful atmosphere within and in the environs of the city. Moreover, Addis is actually a magical magnet attracting international and domestic tourists as it is a real melting pot of natural, cultural, artistic, historical, ideological and linguistic manifestations of diversity of nations. ...... This is part of the daily lives of residents of the city and includes unique Ethiopian and foreign cuisine, hustle and bustle of business, and nightlife with a catchy melody of extravaganza that tourists usually enjoy in places like Kazanchis, Piassa and Bole. Apart from the recently opened breathtaking Unity, Entoto and Friendship parks of the city, of great significance for many tourists is also the fact that Addis has some of the most precious archaeological and historical collections of humanity in its museums, such as the National Museum at Amist Kilo and Addis Ababa Museum near Meskel Square respectively. I have also the conviction that tourists would marvel at the historical buildings, monuments, museums, churches and mosques as well as the culture of peaceful co-existence of dwellers in the city. Addis is really an amazing mix of natural, cultural, linguistic, ideological, historical and mystic places where, for instance, Christians and Muslims have been worshiping their Creator for ages in buildings separated by only a man-made fence, as in the case of St. Raguel’s Church and Anwar Mosque at Merkato. Equally significant is also that Addis is a seat for several regional, continental and international organizations whose long-standing bilateral and multilateral interactions with Ethiopia have strengthened relationships between Ethiopia and the rest of the world in an exemplary fashion in most cases. Finally, apart from welcoming our visitors to the mosaic of cultures, arts and attractions in the vibrant hub of Africa, Addis Ababa, I hereby would like to announce that the Addis Ababa City Government Culture, Arts and Tourism Bureau encourages all stakeholders of culture, art and tourism initiatives around the world to come up with and implement projects of culture, arts and tourism in an effort to successfully address multifarious development challenges of the city through public and private partnership. Our stakeholders, in tandem with higher learning institutions in Addis Ababa, can, for instance, go through our strategic plan of the next ten years through the addresses on this website. Then, they can conduct market research and open several business companies offering tourism jobs at least to graduates of the institutions they partner with. In the end, we all will surely succeed in our joint ventures. Together, we can always make a difference. Our track records to date confirm that our joint ventures have brought about significant changes in theoretical and practical issues of sustainable tourism projects in Addis. A typical example is this website which our bureau produced in collaboration with its stakeholders. Enjoy your stay in Addis anywhere and anytime, and come back with families and friends ASAP. Once again, I wish you all a pleasant time in Addis Ababa
