Museum
Near the Exhibition Center at the Meskel Square lies the Addis Ababa Museum — a former residence of Ras Birru (a high ranking official) at Minilik’s court and was built in 1920s. Ras Birru was a notable advisor to Menelik II in the early 20th century. The building is well-known for its breathtaking dimension and decorations. Upon arrival at the museum, preceded by a brief orientation, tourists are invited to visit exhibits depicting facts ranging from nascent Addis Ababa to the future Addis Ababa. Some of these exhibits are: Photographs and relics illustrating the establishment of Addis Ababa and its early development. Pictures and costumes of Emperor Menelik II and empress Taitu — the two inquisitive founders of Addis Ababa — and the early settlement of Entoto and its environs. )
